99年結成。2003年より現在のメンバー編成にて活動開始。映画音楽的な手法にロック、ジャズ、ノイズ、エモ、即興といったサウンドが融合したマルチ・インストゥルメンタルバンド。国内外のアーティストのツアーサポートや各地のフェスに出演、また、自主企画「生命」の開催などライブを中心に音楽活動しており、ゲストプレイヤーやVJの参加などライブの演出に力を入れている。 昨年には初の海外ツアーにカナダへ行くなど海外への活動範囲を広げている。2005年に1st Mini Album「perception of causality」でデビュー(mastering engineer : mino takaaki/toe)。2008年には1st Full Album「Stylus Fantasticus」を発売。作品の全てのアートワークを新進気鋭のクリエイター迫田悠が手掛け楽曲とリンクしたコンセプチアルな内容となり国内に留まらず海外でも高い評価を受ける。 2009年には2nd Mini Album「capital of gravity」を発売し特殊ブックレットとして短編小説封入するなど、新しい試みにも挑戦。メンバーの成井幹子は、大友良英率いるONJOのライブに出演や、木村カエラ、ILL(ex.SUPERCAR)、ジム・オルークのバックバンドや神聖かまってちゃんのライブサポートなどに参加。 また勝井祐二（ROVO）とのデュオバンド「PHASE」を始動させたばかり。 若手女性バイオリニストとして高い注目を浴びている。

Biography
Formed in 1999 in Tokyo, Japan, the four-piece sgt. utilizes a broad range of genres to create their distinctive sound, including that of post-rock, jazz, ambient and improvisation. Using a guitar, violin, drums and bass guitar. Having played for almost a continuous decade, Sgt. is one of the veteran post-rock bands in Japan. Sgt. can offer what only an experienced band can deliver, a tight sound. The composition of their music is a version of post-rock that is soaked with classical, noise, jazz and emo motifs. This can be attributed to the pr the essence of a female violinist who clutches onto the band's sound and takes it in new directions.
